Crab season is finally here in the Bay Area and there’s no better way to celebrate than with San Francisco’s iconic seafood stew! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to cook and clean Dungeness crab, then we’ll dive into the fundamental flavors and techniques that define the rich, flavorful dish. Using the freshest seafood David brings in from the dock that morning, you’ll also explore ways to personalize your own version of this classic dish. To make entertaining easier, we’ll share make-ahead tips that let you prep in advance and spend more time with your guests at your own cioppino party.
Instructor Bio
After graduating from both the California Culinary Academy and Tante Marie’s Cooking School, David Groff cooked at Zuni Cafe, and Gioia in San Francisco. He developed meal plans as a personal chef, volunteered with the Bay Area’s largest fish supplier, and was the head of instruction for recreational classes at San Francisco Cooking School for seven years.
